Influence of drag forces, navigation basics, watercrafts.

Course curriculum

1.,2. Introduction, types of transport means, position of navigation in system, inland waterways.
3.-4. Classification of inland waterways, canalized river.
(regulation, canalization), lock canals, state and perspectives in Czech Republic.
5.-6. Vessels, swimming, flow resistance of boat, transport capacity
of waterway, water transport economy.
7.-8. Analyses of types and purposes of navigation.
9.-10. Vessels classification, construction principles, recreational
and sport boats.
11. Exhibition Boat (BVV Brno).
12.-13. Principles of river regulation and navigation of rives and
reservoirs. Navigation locks and their installations, lock filling and drawdown.

Aims

Students will learn about application of all types of transport means in any field of human activity. Principles of navigation including design and operation. Boats construction and relate documentation as well as knowledge neccessary for operation and aptitude test.
