Diploma Project Seminar

The course focuses especially on the following topics:
Professionalism, scientific methodology and creativity, structure of the diploma thesis and formal requirements for its layout, information resources and literature quotations, mistakes frequently occurring in elaboration of diploma thesis, working hypotheses, problem-solving methods.
According to the above principles to process the theoretical part diploma thesis.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Having completed the course, students will be able to define a problem, to find, organize and generalize information, to create working hypothesises, to find and use suitable methods for solution to the given problem, and to compose a defence.

Prerequisites

Knowledge and utilization of basic intellectual operations.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching takes place in the form of individual exercises, where students get acquainted with and practically try out the various methods of creating final theses. It is carried out in the form of consultations with the thesis supervisor. Students do not sign up for any lessons, they only contact the thesis supervisor and agree on the terms of the credit. This is awarded by the thesis supervisor.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The graded course-unit credit is awarded on the following conditions:
Delivery of partial reports, submission and presentation of a study related to the diploma thesis. Final grade reflects timeliness, completeness and the quality of submitted materials.

Aims

The main objective of the course is to make students familiar with intellectual work methodology, ways of retrieving, processing and use of information, as well as with the formal aspects of the diploma thesis. It focuses also on mastering basic skills when preparing for, working out and presenting the diploma thesis.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Submitting the requested materials in declared control days.
Absent students have to submit requested materials in an alternative term.
