Special Technology of Binding Materials

The course will deal with modern mortars and binders. Specifically, these topics will be: common mortars (plasters, screeds, screeds, adhesives, grout), HPC, UHPC, RPC, ternary binders PC-AC-CS, refractory concrete, binders for high temperatures, expansion mortars, 3D printing, foam mortars , aerated concrete, fiber-cement boards, textile concrete, polymer mortars, polymer-cement mortars, MDF composites, alkali-activated systems, alkali-activated systems II, renovation of building materials.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

At the end of the course students should gain knowledge and overview of special mortars, HPC, UHPC, RPC, ternary binders PC-AC-CS, castables, expansion mortars, aerated concrete, fiber-cement elements, polymer mortars, polymer-cement mortars, MDF composites, alkaline activated systems and remediation of building materials.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge from inorganic and physical chemistry and silicate technology.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course uses teaching methods in form of Lecture - 2 teaching hours per week. The e-learning system (LMS Moodle) is available to teachers and students.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Oral exam with preparation (30 min.) in the scope of the curriculum and the extent of the lectures.
