Selected Chapters from Building Constructions 2

Methodology of designing and subsequent implementing of suitable design solutions and technological processes of PSV works, while respecting operational and layout requirements for specific types of buildings with an optimal solution details and interconnections.
Application of current requirements for economics, energy performance of buildings, noise protection and environmental protection with providing fire protection of construction, daylight and sunlight.

Prerequisites

The Students will use the acquired knowledge in building physics (thermal engineering, acoustics and daylighting inside buildings), fire safety of buildings and civil engineering, acquired by completing the prescribed courses in previous studies.

Course curriculum

1. Internal surfaces of walls and ceilings - plastering, tiling, coatings, paintings - functional, operational and hygiene requirements, dilatation
2. Skin walls - the techno-functional and acoustic (process design, implementation for the given functional requirements) to conduct distribution systems, HVAC operating technology etc.
3. Floors - functional and operational requirements (thermal-technical, acoustic, operational, fire, etc.), properties of floors and their testing, design and implementation
4. Floors - function of sub layers, materials, wear-layer, details in critical areas, dilatation
5. Ceilings - functional requirements, design principles, user requirements and design methodology (acoustics, thermal engineering, fire safety, structural analysis, hygiene)
6. Ceilings - types of ceilings (optical, acoustic, fire, etc.), materials, implementation, details
7. Doors and gates - legislative requirements, design and construction details, including links to main building operations in the range of building physics - thermal technology, acoustics, daylight and sunlight - influence of boundary conditions on the hygienic, operational and functional requirements
8. Windows - legislative requirements, design and construction details, including links to main building operations in the range of building physics - thermal technology, acoustics, daylight and sunlight - influence of boundary conditions on the hygienic, operational and functional requirements, selection of an optimal solution in the case of two mutually exclusive legislative mandatory requirements
9. Railings - functional and safety requirements, structure and method of anchoring, railing fill, handle,
10. Plumbing - requirements, materials - suitable and unsuitable combinations, design, implementation and detailed solutions - linked to the emergence of genuine thermal bridges, acoustics and vibrations (or even structural noise), optimal dilatation

Syllabus

1. Assignment of building amenities or apartment building - low energy or passive. Preparing legislative requirements and limits that must be met by a building facility, its sub-structures including finishing trades. 2. Design and selection of the appropriate type and material of plaster, tiling and coating, joint solutions in plasters and tiles - details. 3. Calculation and design of skin wall of a separating supporting wall that separates two different operational and user spaces (staircase, garage, engine and boiler room etc.). - Thermal technology, acoustics, HVAC and plumbing lines, suitable material and dimensional solutions, details of links to the supporting wall, ceiling and floor, detail of transmission of plumbing lines, electrical wiring or HVAC. 4. Design of the floor composition in the 1st floor (on the ground), ceiling between the garage and residence spaces, between the air-conditioning machine room and accommodation premises, stair landings. Verification in the field of thermal engineering, acoustics and vibrations, fire safety etc., selection of appropriate materials. Details at walls, doors, gates, stair and landing, design of electrical distribution systems and floor heating, flooring dilation solutions. 5. Calculation and design of the ceiling in terms of thermal engineering, acoustics and fire safety, selection of materials and design of suspension, detailing along the walls, ceiling penetrations for HVAC, lighting and other equipment. 6. and 7. Design of windows, doors and gates - verification and selection of the type fillings in terms of thermal engineering, acoustics, fire safety, etc. Working with noise maps of cities with a link to filling of openings. Details of filling of openings with a link to adjacent structures and compliance with legislative requirements. 8. Design of railing - structural and material solutions for indoor and outdoor railings, details of anchoring of the load-bearing party of railings and fills. 9. Design and selection of material of plumbing elements linked to fills of openings, expansion joints. Solution in the place of thermal and acoustic bridges, in the event of vibrations, including details. 10. Completion and awarding of a credit.
