Studio Follow-up II - Product Design - summer

FaVU-M2PD-LAcad. year: 2020/2021

The last semester is designated for realization of the thesis. In the end, the student submits the text part containing the search section with designer reflection of the current solution, defining the objectives of the work, or an ergonomic study or shape analysis (compositional intent), sources of inspiration, sketches documenting the genesis of the design concept, dimensional conceptual drawing and specification of the realization process or eventually of the manufacturing technology. The student further presents a physical model or a functional prototype with accompanying graphical presentation according to the thesis assignment.

Course curriculum

The sixth year is focused on the studio diploma work. A part of evaluation of the diploma work is the definition of the theme and its formulation. Students prove their independence throuhgout their whole project. They back up the analytical stage of the project, from the theme definition, over the exploration of actual solutions, initial sketches, inspirational sources, used factographic sources and structural concept up to the outlines of the realisation procedure (technology). They formulate all above mentioned aspects of their solutions in a written report and present a plausible spatial model with appendant documentation.
