Studio III - Game Media - winter

The subject presents the game genre of visual novels. Initial genre research includes a presentation of key titles from worldwide production. It opens the thematic ensemble of Anime, manga, world and Czech comics in the context of digital games. Reflection of fan-art culture, cosplay. Based on a totally elementary interaction, both digital and physical, students design and then realize the creative visual novel, individual content, scope, and style. In the case of sufficient technical and time facilities for students, the scope of the visual novel may exceed, for example, adventure or didactic play.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students are able to realize an author's digital or physical visual novel with an individual theme and level of interaction. They gain insight into Anime, adjacent participatory culture, and comics.

Prerequisites

Ability to process structured author's text in the form of a gamebook and implement digital mind-maps.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Students are led to realize individual or collective exercises and tasks. They continuously improve their technical and theoretical knowledge in the field. They are actively discussing and presenting their work results in the atelier field. In complementary activities, he participates in thematic exhibitions, excursions, festivals and lectures.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

To award the credit, it is necessary to submit partial studio assignments and collective or individual semester work. Subsequently, before the committee, he / she defends the results of the semester examination.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences
