Instrumentation in Material Engineering

The instrumentation in material analysis including fundamentals and application of X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermal analysis techniques including TG-DTA, EGA, TDA, DSC etc., particle size distribution, specific surface, thermal properties, composition (XRF and ICP) and IR as well as Raman spectroscopy.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Ability to work with samples of technically important groups of materials and knowledge of the principles of the discussed techniques and evaluation of the results using these techniques.

Prerequisites

The fundamentals about analysis techniques, physics and structure of materials.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course uses teaching methods in form of Lecture - 2 teaching hours per week. The e-learning system (LMS Moodle) is available to teachers and students.
