Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will gain knowledge about selected special construction technologies for application to specific structures . They will gain knowledge about the preparation and execution of selected special construction sub-processes used to produce outer shells and both interior and finishing work for building and engineering structures.
After the completion of the subject, students will be able to apply theoretical knowledge from the area of selected special technologies and detailed technical procedures for the application of this knowledge in a case study. They will be able to produce sample technical guidelines for a selected special technology, including appendices defining the structure, construction and selected technology.
Excursions during the course will enable students to understand other ways of implementing special technologies in real-world structures.
They will design selected special technological procedures and propose the way they are to be carried out in a project which they will defend at the end of the semester via an oral presentation and in a final discussion. They will also prepare an electronic presentation for this.

Prerequisites

Knowledge from the area of building materials and construction technology.

Co-requisites

Widening and supplementation of knowledge from the area of building materials and construction technology.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course consists of lectures and practical lessons. Individual assignments, project work and presentations will all be used in practical classes. The outputs will be checked via directed and individual consultations with the tutor. The course will be supplemented by field trips: several construction sites in the region will be selected at which the special technologies covered during the course are being implemented, and these will be visited by the students during practical classes.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Attendance of lectures is recommended, attendance at practical lessons is compulsory. With regards to the scope of the syllabus, the tutor can excuse only one justified absence. One of the conditions for the credit is the presentation of the semestral project. All submitted parts of the semestral project will have a unified format, and the electronic presentation shall be recorded on a CD/DVD. The quality of the textual part and presentation is evaluated.
