Course detail
Special Technologies
FAST-CW059Acad. year: 2018/2019
Use of new, non-traditional, special and experimental construction materials, technologies and methods. New technologies and modern ways of constructing buildings and also engineering structures. Specific aspects of the construction of energy-saving buildings, the utilisation of modern insulation materials and their composition, surface finishes and user technologies in buildings. Special procedures employed during demolition work and recycling, usage of modern anchoring techniques and supporting structures. Application of selected construction technologies at a real-world construction site.

Learning outcomes of the course unit
After the completion of the subject, students will be able to apply theoretical knowledge from the area of selected special technologies and detailed technical procedures for the application of this knowledge in a case study. They will be able to produce sample technical guidelines for a selected special technology, including appendices defining the structure, construction and selected technology.
Excursions during the course will enable students to understand other ways of implementing special technologies in real-world structures.
They will design selected special technological procedures and propose the way they are to be carried out in a project which they will defend at the end of the semester via an oral presentation and in a final discussion. They will also prepare an electronic presentation for this.
