ASPE software for the planning and management of the construction of buildings and transport structures – budgets, calculations, time schedules, network graphs and other steps in the management of a building contract. Investor and supplier controlling, administration of sub-deliveries, continuous evaluation of costs and resources. Lists of jobs done, fact-finding protocols, invoicing. Planning and management of construction in the RSV system in connection with the outputs of calculation software. Importing of budgets and their use in the creation of a technology planning model, sub-contractor budgets, creation of a time schedule via linkage to MS-Project, creation and printing of documentation for construction execution.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

After completing the course, students will understand the processes involved in building company management. They will learn to work with the ASPE and RSV software tools for construction preparation and execution. With the aid of these systems, they can deal with the preparation of construction contracts, their variants, budgets, calculations and time schedules. Students are also able to deal with implementation processes, including the financial inspection of economic results. They understand the documentation for construction execution and can create inventories of work performed, fact-finding protocols and invoices.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of the rules for budgeting, good understanding of construction technologies, common user-level knowledge of work with office applications.

Co-requisites

General principles of planning and management, managerial skills, management and organization of construction site work, participants in construction work, cooperation of participants in the construction process, contractual relationships.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching is primarily conducted via lectures where basic principles, methods, problems and examples of their solutions are dealt with in the form of presentations. Follow-up practical lessons focus mainly on practical mastery of the material presented in the lectures and involve work on exercises using computers.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

A credit must be gained and an examination passed in order to successfully pass the course. The credit is given for the student’s active participation in practical lessons, i.e. regular attendance with a maximum of 2 permitted missed lessons and the demonstration of knowledge when solving specific tasks on the computer using the ASPE and RSV programmes during credit week. The course is completed by passing an exam.

Course curriculum

1. General options for the use of ASPE software in construction planning and management.
2. Data available for use by the ASPE system – default and adopted ÚRS price lists.
3. Dials and settings of the ASPE programme, parameters of the construction process, budgets, construction execution and time schedules.
4. Construction execution, budgets and time schedules in the ASPE environment. Creation of budgets and calculated bids, time schedule options, network graphs, critical path calculations.
5. Contract solution variants, creation of supplier variants. Documents for construction execution in the ASPE environment – work – progress, invoicing, charge orders
6. Other ASPE options – construction phases, budget re-evaluation, large-scale changes.
7. Building production management using the RSV programme, general functionality.
8. Procedure for the implementation of the RSV system in a real construction company environment. Input data for contract management.
9. Record-keeping with regard to documentation for orders, bids and construction planning in the RSV system. Importing the budget and technology planning model for a contract, creation of sub-contractor budgets.
10. Connectivity of RSV to Microsoft Project, time scheduling and its linkage to a technology planning model. Outputs and execution of construction: list of jobs done, evaluation of costs and resources in the RSV system.

Aims

To get knowledge of software aid in construction process planning and monitoring in an integrated company management system. The knowledge should enable individual applications and solution in line with supposed allocation of the student on site in practice.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Extent and forms are specified by guarantor’s regulation updated for every academic year.

Recommended optional programme components

Non-compulsory attendance to optional seminars related to the course, the option to attend related courses in the life-long learning programme, cooperation in building preparation projects.
