The structure and properties of building materials and their classification, development trends of building materials technology and of the technology of building. The life cycle of building materials beginning with production up to building clearance, technical and environmental demands to product, importance of building materials design in structures, their failures. Management systems, securing the quality of building materials, legislative demands. Raw materials conditions of manufacturers in the Czech Republic, processing of secondary raw materials, recycling; Aggregates, lightweight concrete and cellular concrete. Ceramic materials their properties, utilization of products. Technology and properties of classical binders, their decisive influence on the most used building materials, mortars, concrete, control of their properties. Plastics and their utilization in the building industry. Types of composite materials. Particle composites. Fibre composites, types of fibres and matrices. Influence of structure to composite properties. Polymer-cement mortars and concrete. Service life of building materials and elements following the wear degree, mechanical and microstructure changes, testing methods. Concrete corrosion, classification of materials according to their durability, methods for building materials durability determination and possibility of their protection. Material for building structures rehabilitation.

4.Raw materials conditions of building materials manufacturers in the Czech Republic, processing of secondary raw materials, recycling.
5.Aggregates, lightweight concrete and cellular concrete.
6.Technology and properties of classical binders, their utilization.
7.Mortars and concrete - control of their properties.

Aims

Consolidation of knowledge concerning physical properties of building materials, of up-to-date trends in their production technology and in securing the quality of product; explanation of connections connected with the whole service life of building products after rehabilitation and clearance of buildings. Awareness of connection and importance of the optimal material design choice in regard to technical, economical and ecological demands considering the interaction of these factors in building structures.
