Technology of building processes I

Project documentation in general, building-technical and building-technological project and their correlation, participants in construction work, preparation of construction, people, machines, materials and money at buildings, modelling of building-technological processes, building unit, construction, site, constructional plant, layout of site and construction, scheduling. Earthworks, basic concepts, types of soil, preparation of ground, rough surfacing. building pits, channels, shafts, backfills, fills, roundfills, security of excavations - sloping, curb, sheeting, site drainage, labour safety in the course of earthworks. Foundation engineering, types of foundations and their realisation, technology of foundation engineering, footing bottoms. Construction of utility services, sewers, water mains, gas piping, hot water piping, warm water piping, electric power lines, electric communication system, routes, corridors, collectors. Construction of roads, temporary and permanent roads, road beds, bearing layers, wearing layers. Reinforced concrete structures, formwork, reinforcement, manufacture of concrete mixtures, transport of concrete mixtures, storage of concrete mixtures, compaction of concrete mixtures, concrete curing. Scaffolding, general principles of designing, types of scaffolding with respect to structure, to materials, system scaffolds, lifts, facade bridges, working platforms, assembly platforms.

Course curriculum

Introduction into the technology of constructions. Production processes, characteristics, design planning documents, mechanisation of building processes.
Building machine and equipment for earth moving works.
Earth moving works. Manners and procedures of execution. Earth moving works in variant conditions.
Building machines and equipment – loaders, dozers, scrapers, graders, rippers, compacting machines, their application
Mixers, concrete production plants, reinforcement bending plants and vibration equipment
Machines and equipment for vertical transportation – cranes, construction lifts and winches
Utility services. Drainage, water, gas and electric lines connections etc.
Foundation structures. Shallow and deep foundations, execution procedure.
Scaffolding. Segment and element scaffoldings. Working procedures and principles.
Formwork for reinforced concrete structures. Segment, system and special formwork. Principles of design work and realisation.
Steel works. Preparation of steel reinforcements of reinforced concrete structures. Placement of reinforcement – principles and procedures.
Concrete processes. Transportation, laying, compacting and treatment of concrete. Special concrete processes.
Site facilities. Principles of design, drawing. Minimisation of the site area.

Aims

To teach the student to apply individual processes of earth moving works, carcass substructure and carcass superstructure in practical application and to solve particular problems on practical examples.
