Design of Public and Residential Buildings

FAST-5H8Acad. year: 2015/2016

Basic informations about dispositional, building-constructional, spatial and architectural principles of designig residental and civil constructions in sequence on the public notices and specifications valid for civil buildings, constructions for tepmporary accommodation, community feeding, business services, administration and transportation. Also the demands on the educational, sport, culture and health service objects will be explained in this course. The lectures will mainly focus on the required tract rooms, their structure, spatial and functional concurrences, orientation and their fundamental furnishings and decor.
Two different typological types of constructions will be designed according to the particular assignment during the lessons, all designs will be elaborated in 1:100 scale (floor plans, vertical sections, views, situation), with reference to optimal constructive system, thermal-technical demands, fire and barrier - free access.

Knowledge of bricked, monolithic, steel and wooden constructions. Basic knowledge of technological equipment of buildings, heat engineering and acoustics, fire protection and construction technologies.

Course curriculum

1. Division of the residential houses, requirements for entrance, staircase, elevators, barrier-free architecture, exposition to sunlight.
2. Services for residential houses floors, their hygienic facilities, information system.
3. Retail units, shopping centers, superstores, market halls, integrated shopping facilities
4. Hotel division, operation scheme, dormitory house. Motels
5. Restaurants, buffets, requirements for consumption premises and dressing rooms for guests.
6. Car transport, garages, garages with ramps and mechanized garages, current parking systems.
7. Bus stations, railway stations – operation scheme of a station building, requirements for a platform.
8. Administration buildings, dispositional and constructional solutions, development of work stations, space, acoustic and optical requirements.
9. Sport buildings, dispositional, operational principles, designing an auditorium, by-passed drop, visibility curve.
10. Buildings for culture, general requirements for an auditorium. Theatre
11. Cinemas, concert halls and congress halls, libraries, galleries and museums.
12. Nurseries and kindergartens, basic school.
13. Outpatient clinic facilities

Aims

Refinement of knowledge regarding residential buildings, new knowledge about civil buildings for the needs of projecting objects from the point of view of space formation, operation bonds, and capacity solutions of selected types of buildings, orientation of students in the current legislation regarding requirements for these constructions.
