Safety and Risky Behavior

The course is aimed at the security aspects of society and risky behaviour of humans in stressful situations. It introduces the basics of legislation in the field of national security, crisis management of protection against unexpected events. In other aspects, it focuses on the impact of internal and external factors on individual and group behaviour, behaviour and decision-making. It deals with specific dangerous situations, and the issue of victims and prevention of risky behaviour.

Course curriculum
2) The basic legislation in the field of IP, environmental protection, and emergency planning.
3) Safety and danger peril and risk. Identify sources of risk. Dangers and hazards of the course or event. Behaviour and experience in extreme situations. Criteria of age of vulnerable groups.
4) Decision-making process, mistakes and errors in decision making. Decision making under risk and uncertainty.
5) Individual and group behaviour. Psychology of the crowd. Model of behaviour. Aggression, anxiety and fear as the response to stress situations, altruisms and absence of help. Fundament and causes of stress, stressors, and defensive mechanisms.
6) Psychological burden. Personal potential and perception of stress in stress situations.
7) PTSD, causes of origin, symptoms, course.
8) Specific threatening situations. Situation of attack, kidnapping and hostage taking.
9) Personality and risky behaviour. The motivation of human‘s behaviour. Pathological forms of behaviour.
10) Group of people with a greater risk of traumatic situations.
11) Communication in difficult situations, non-verbal communication. Mediation as a method of conflict resolution.
12) Ways how to help victims. Victims – harmed person. Behaviour of victims in state of danger.
13) Prevention. Types of preventive measures. Making prognosis. The importance of external and internal factors on the emergence of risk behaviour.
