Learning outcomes of the course unit

The student is able to:
- describe the basic properties and behavior of modern analog circuits, discrete and integrated,
- understand their physical function and interaction with other circuits,
- describe and propose their typical applications, as well as basic procedures for analysis and design.

Prerequisites

The student is supposed to have basic knowledge in electronic components (especially transistors, diodes and passive components) and further knowledge of the basic principles and laws of electromagnetism.

Co-requisites

Not applicable.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods include lecture and computer and numerical excercises.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

- a maximum of 30 points for protocols of computer exercises,
- a maximum of 70 points for the written final exam.

Aims

The aim of this course is to make students familiar with the state of the art of analogue technology by a suitable combination of theory, intuition, and computer simulation. The subject respects the fact of the co-existence of discrete circuits and permanently increasing amount of integrated circuits.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Computer exercises are mandatory. Properly excused absence from seminars can be replaced by appointment with the teacher.

Recommended optional programme components
