Urgent Health Care

The course is focused on knowledge about life-threatening conditions and their threatment. The urgent emergency situations are categorized by body system. In detail there are presented knowledge about heart attack and its treatment.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The ability to understand, communicate and collaborate with healthcare professionals in the fields of urgent health care: emergency medical assistance, intensive care unit, anesthesiology-resuscitation care unit. The improvements in resuscitation techniques.

Prerequisites

The Urgent Health Care follows the course "Basics of First Aid" and is based on the acquired knowledge of physiology and clinical medical courses.

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The completion of the course is conditional on attendance and the credit will be awarded upon successful completion of the test. The test is focused on urgent emergency situations.

Course curriculum

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation basic and advanced, respiratory failure, circulatory collapse, consciousness disorders and acute disease of the central nervous system, acute trauma, mechanical ventilation, integrated rescue system.
Practical exercises: Cardiopulmonary resuscitation basic and advanced, mechanical ventilation, monitoring of vital functions, presentations of patients on resuscitation unit.

Aims

The aim of the course is to provide students the theoretical knowledge of the urgent health care in medicine, medical terminology of basic urgent health care, pathophysiology and basic pre-hospital and hospital treatment. Furthermore, to present the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Attendance at seminars is compulsory. Any absence must be consulted with the teacher. You can compensate it with another study group.
