Aircraft Propulsion

Operation principles, working cycles and structures of aircraft engines in the scope necessary for aircraft designers and air transport specialists.
Basic parameters, engines classification. Piston aircraft engines, classification,arrangement, working principles, cycles, basic parts, accessory systems, present-day state, maintenance, performance. Gas turbine engines, classification, operation principles, air intake, compressors, combustion chambers, turbines and exhaust systems. Turbojet engines, turboprop and turboshaft engines. Principles and outlook of ram-jet engines, pulsating jet engines and rocket engines.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes
accreditation. Write and oral examination consists of three parts: 1. Simple computational problem 2. Piston engine theoretical question 3. Jet engine theoretical question. All three parts have the same weight in the resulting evaluation.
