Students will raise their language ability to the level A2+ according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. After completing the course, the students will be able to express themselves better when discussing their work and free-time experience. They will also be able to describe main events in their life, plans for future and also events that have occured so far. Students will be able to communicate in English language in everyday situations and about basic topics.

Students should have a pre-intermediate level of English. They should be able to use the past and present (including present perfect) tenses to talk about their lives, and some future forms to discuss plans. They should be able to ask questions, give personal information, understand clear English related to familiar subjects. They should also be able to compare things using adjectives, use countable/uncountable nouns and some modal verbs. They should also be able to manage simple functional transactions in shops, restaurants and while travelling.

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations. Grammar and vocabulary is practised in an interactive way, with emphasis on conversation. Development of communication and listening skills using interactive audio-visual technologies, LMS Moodle and Smartboard.

In order to receive their credits, students need to attend classes regularly (max. 3 absences per semester), do homework and actively participate in the lessons.

To raise language ability to an intermediate level (A2). After completing the course, the students should be better able to express work and other experience, as well as describe long - lasting or temporary situations in their life continuing from the past to now; express permission and obligation in connection with rules and behaviour in the workplace and society.
