Creation of 3D characters I

Students are given projects on which they work with the assistance of the lecturer. At the end of the semester, students will be able to model human head in 3D. They will be also given examples from art history and from contemporary artistic practice. Students should learn how to use rapid prototyping methods.

Final project: students must model human head in a 3D program from photo references.

Course curriculum

Human body proportions
modelling organic shapes in 3D modelling programs
human head anatomy
low poly model - modeling from photo references
presentation of the model - light, composition, rendering
creative handling of the finished model, deformation tools
preparation of the model for implementation with rapid prototyping methods

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Lectures and students' work on a given project are combined. Seminars in which students work with the 3D programs are mandatory.
