Quality Management

Quality management principles, system and statistical thinking, basic TQM philosophy, standards ISO 9000 are introduced to students in this course.

Learning outcomes of the course unit
Understanding the principles of total quality management, legal norms of quality management (Czech Republic, EU) and symbol CE. International Standards: ISO 9000, ISO 14000, OHSAS 18001,etc.
Prerequisites
Students are required to have the knowledge of technology, management and economy of companies. Applied mathematics, especially statistics.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes
Participation on the practise. Writing of one semester work and presentation notice. Writing three tests. In the case of non-performance requirements, can be get alternate conditions.
The course unit credit requirements: Participation in seminars. Writing one semester project and a presentation at seminars. Writing three tests. An alternative assignment may be given to students if the conditions are not met (in justified cases) As long as a student gets more than 90 points during semester, he/she will be suggested a mark and he/she does not have to take an examination. Evaluation: excellent (over 120 points), very good (113-119 points), good (105-112 points), satisfactory (97-104 points), sufficient (90-97 points). Other students have to take an examination (written and oral) – Exam evaluation: excellent (90-100 points), very good (80-89 points), good (70-79 points), satisfactory (60-69 points), sufficient (50-59 points), failed (0-49 points).

Aims
Students will be made familiar with the main tools of modern quality management and the basics of the community law of EU.
Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences
