Management Communication in Practice

The course is focused on managing skills practice, particulary in the fields of communication psychology, social perception and team management. Teaching has the form of psychological seminars. Theory of communication psychology and psychology of team management is involved in seminars as well.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Knowledge in the fields of communication psychology and team management psychology, self-presentation in the class, simulation of typical situations in team management. Self-presentation in the class and written assignments will be required.

Prerequisites

The subject knowledge on the secondary school level is required.

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in Article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Requirements for completion of the course are specified by a regulation issued by the lecturer responsible for the course and updated for every year.

Course curriculum

Social perception. Non-verbal communication v. verbal communication (arguing, active listening, asertiv communication, self-presentation, group-presentation). Team-leader activities - delegating, making marks, group-managing, conflict solving, mediation. Leading the work group (social psychology of group behaviour, team roles, team management, meeting arrangement, running the meeting

Aims

Students will be expected to demonstrate a specific level of team management skills by presenting their assignments in the class. This guarantees both knowledge of theory of communication psychology and team management psychology, and analysis and problem solving in real life.
