An English course for intermediate students which prepares students for the compulsory course Professional English 2 (Odborná angličtina 2). Emphasis is put on practical language skills needed at work in the area of management and information technology.

Course curriculum
2. Present Simple and Continuous, action and state verbs. Functions: introductions and greetings, welcoming a visitor.
3. Past Simple and Present Perfect Simple review, used to + infinitive, subject and object questions. Vocab: work file, dictionary skills.
4. Company and job profile. Functions: answering the phone, making and changing appointments. Saying dates. Technical text.
5. Comparative and superlative adjectives, relative clauses. Vocab: adjectives, personal attitudes and qualities.
6. Functions: giving opinions, agreeing and disagreeing, participating in a meeting or discussion.
7. Present and past trends: Present Continuous and Past Simple, adjectives and adverbs. Vocab: food file, word groups.
8. Reading: ethical consumerism. Functions: advice and suggestions. Technical text.
9. Passives: Present Simple, Present Continuous, Past Simple, Present Perfect Simple, Will Future. Vocab: leisure and fitness activities, word combinations
10. Functions: leaving recorded messages, using mobile phones.
11. Past Simple, Past Continuous, Past Perfect. Vocab: gerunds file, personal management. Technical text.
12. Functions: requests and offers, exchanging information.
13. Semester test.
Work placements
Aims
Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences
75% attendance and active participation at classes is required. Any absence must be properly accounted for. If the absence exceeds 75%, missed lessons have to be replaced.
