Psychology in Traffic

Subject is aimed at knowledge and usage of psychological aspects in traffic.
Subject is concerned with basic issues of psychology and matter of investigation.
Subject is oriented at personality from the point of view of normality and pathology and from the point of view of human in context of social situations applied in traffic.
Subject deals with selected aspects of concentration, perception, influence, emotions and behavior in transport situations. Further, the subject is aimed at reactions of human psyche in traumatic situation, origin of PTSP (post traumatic stress disorder) including victims and their victimization.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Expert competency:
Knowledge aimed at cognizance of functions of human psyche, especially in critical situations, demonstrating causes of behavior in traumatic situations.
Competency of self-knowledge and communication in difficult situations, knowledge aimed at consequences of traumatic situations on human psyche including the prevention.

Participation in seminars, compliance of assigned tasks, practically oriented excursion into selected institution.

Course curriculum

1.Introduction. The importance of the human factor in traffic, the starting points consisting of the importance of understanding the human psyche.
2.Basic knowledge of the workings of the human psyche, cognitive processes, perception, memory, thinking, observing, illusions and delusions.
3.Personality, basic knowledge of temperament influence on behavior in traffic
4.Agrese and aggression, conflict, stress, stressors, defense mechanisms
5.Concept of self
6. Stressful situations and socio-psychological aspects of traffic behavior
7. Altruism and its importance in transport
8.The importance of social communication in transport
9. Psychosomatic aspects and their importance in transportation, illness, intoxication
10.Posttraumatic stress disorder and its solution
11. The driver of a specific age
12. Traffic accident as the risk situation
13. Victims of mass disasters and psychological aspects of disasters

Syllabus

1. Úvod do předmětu. Lidský faktor v dopravě, význam poznání lidské psychiky a chování. Psychologie jako věda o chování a prožívání.
2. Fungování lidské psychiky, pozornost, lucidita, vigilita. Vnímání, poruchy ve vnímání, iluze a klamy
3. Osobnost, základní poznatky o temperamentu, vliv na chování v dopravní situaci
4. Agrese a agresivita, konflikty, stres, stresory, obranné mechanismy.
5. Chování v davu, vliv emocí, chování a sociálně psychologické aspekty chování v dopravě
6. Altruismus a jeho význam, zejm. v dopravě
7. Řidič a věková specifika
8. Psychosomatické aspekty v dopravě, nemoc, intoxikace
9. Význam sebepoznání
10. Komunikace v obtížných situacích, význam neverbální komunikace. Mediace jako způsob řešení konfliktů.
11. Dopravní nehoda jako traumatická situace, možné následky a projevy na psychiku
12. Posttraumatická stresová porucha a její řešení
13. Oběti dopravních nehod, viktimizace.
