Subject is aimed at problems of diagnostic and examination of vehicles with the help of modern methods.

Learning outcomes of the course unit
Students gain knowledge from diagnostic and examination of vehicles for practical activity related to operation, maintenance and repair of vehicles in the context of relevant legal rules.

Knowledge from the field of design of vehicles.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes
For gaining of credit is necessary attendance in seminars and successful passing through test and preparation of semestral work. Exam is written and oral and student must successful pass through written part before oral part.
Course curriculum
1. Basics of technical diagnostic and examination, basic terms and definitions, principles, terminology, regulations and standards for motor vehicles
2. Types and conditions of testing, measurements and data evaluation
3. Weight parameters and performance properties of vehicles, economy (efficiency)
4. Brake testing
5. Diagnostic and testing of suspension, damper springs, interior and external noise
6. Problems at testing the vehicle handling
7. Gear boxes, test rooms
8. Steering systems, wheel alignment, tyres
9. Operating-time testing of vehicles, axles and vehicle bodies, passive safety testing
10. General principles of engine diagnostics, spark-ignition engine diagnostics
11. Diagnostics of compression-ignition engines, European dashboard diagnostics (EOBD)
12. Basic equipment of the specialised sites, inspection and assessment of vehicle technical condition at STK, performing the diagnostic at vehicle operating and maintenance
13. Approval of technical capability of vehicles, the homologation tests, crash tests

Goal of this subject is to prepare experts for leading functions on different levels to deciding activities in the field of automotive technology, especially for operation, maintenance and repair of vehicles.
