Course detail

Term Thesis

FSI-GSTAcad. year: 2011/2012

The tutorial on designing industrial robots and manipulators (PRaM) is a follow-up to course for the lectures given in the fourth year of study - Industrial robots I and II. The task is to pursue practical utilization of acquired knowledge. The aim for the students is to acquire practical skills necessary for designing of industrial robots, manipulators, their gripping (clamping) heads, automated workplaces with different peripherals and a complete logistic provision.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The project enables students to enrich the previous findings related to designing of individual devices for robotised workplaces (end-effectors, various conveyors, roller ways,
turn tables and cross tables, lifting and feeding equipment, pallets, AGV - automatic guided vehicles, etc.), and industrial robots. Through tutorials, the students will also learn how to use production machines and robots for designing the workplaces with all technological links to transportation and peripherals.

Prerequisites

Thorough knowledge of the design of industrial robots and manipulators. Good knowledge of PC systems CAD and parametric systems (Pro-engineer, I-DEAS)

Co-requisites

Not applicable.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Graded course-unit credit is awarded on the following conditions_:
1. Attendance at obligatory tutorials
2. Fulfiling conditions of systematic check-ups: this will be specified at the beginning of the semestr
3. Having submited an end-ofsemestr project.

Aims

The aim of the project is to make students familiar with the design of a robotised workplace that mostly consists of a production machine, an industrial robot, a peripheral device, and in-factory transportation. The task of the tutorial is to make the students acquianted with technical and technological links between peripheral devices, which are mostly designed for the respective workplace, and a production machine, a robot and a transportation device.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Attendance at all exercises. Absence may_be in justified ceses compensated for via spicial make-up homework.
