Reliability and Diagnostic Method

FSI-IDGAcad. year: 2011/2012

The problem of the reliability is understood as a significant aspect of the product quality and thus a basic requirement for the effective utilisation of the construction-technological and operation parameters.
The course deals the tools applied for description and analysis of the random phenomenon connected to the occurrence of failures and recoveries. The methods for determination of the reliability of data obtained by durability tests or by evaluation of functional parameters
(acquired by technical diagnostic methods) will be demonstrated on examples.

Mode of study

Not applicable.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will learn to evaluate reliability of elements and systems using non-parametric estimations as well as parametric ones and evaluate coefficients of recharged systems. The course offers an overview of basic methods of states of the technical systems.

Prerequisites

Successful completion of the course is conditional on the knowledge of the probability theory, the statistical analysis and the physical principles of measurement.

Co-requisites

Not applicable.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Written exam – solution of problems with the reliability coefficients.

Course curriculum

Work placements

Not applicable.

Aims

The aim of the course is to familiarise students with theoretical models of the reliability indicators and with methods of system components reliability, as well as with diagnostic methods, tools and instruments.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Active participation in seminars. Absence may be compensated for by writing an essay on the given topic.
