Coloristics and Colorimetrics

Definition of the colourity, colours, additive and subtractive way of colour mixing, typical composition of dyes and their division according to the Colour Index, theory of the colour vision, light sources – CIE standard lighting, systems of colours, colour measurement – acquisition of the spectral data in the coloured space, geometry of lighting, colour saturation, brightness, hue, calculation of the colourity on the spectral data, colourity check – CIE and CMC colour differences, computer processing and prediction of the dye bath.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Having completed the course, it is expected that the student will have acquired knowledge allowing him or her not only to pass the exam successfully, but also to have a good understanding of the problems in his or her prospective professional activity in textile, paper, printing, varnishing, food and other industries.

Demonstrate knowledge section organic and physical chemisty.

1. Laws of electromagnetic radiation
2. Relation between the chemical structure and the colourity of organic dyes
3. Azo and anthraquinon dyes
4. Mathematical description of colour, colour spaces
5. Colour deviations (CIE Lab; CMC)

Aims

The objective of this course is that the students familiarise themselves with practical application of physical chemistry in the interaction of electromagnetic radiation with materials.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Knowledge of selected chapters from organic and physical chemistry.
