Original Abstract

In the early days of digital audio workstations (DAW) expensive hardware with dedicated DSP chips were the only serious solutions available due to the lack of affordable computing power. Thanks to dramatic changes in the world of home computers, today's Mac®'s and PC's are not only capable of providing a high end DAW solution, they are actually being designed with this need clearly in mind. This paper deals with host-based solution of multi-channel surround sound processing in Nuendo digital audio workstation.
