Original Abstract

Numerical simulations of a dc circuit breaker are presented and compared to previous measurements. In spite of missing details from the experiment, the simulation model replicates current signal rather well, whereas voltage and pressure signals show larger differences, which is attributed to insufficient modeling in radiative heat transfer. External magnetic field yields to shorter arcing times.
