Original Abstract

The article described our own design and construction of a fully automatic device for acquisition of the back of the eye (retina). This device is suitable for both biometric and medical applications. The user simply sits in front of the device, places his head on the support points for his forehead and chin, and looks into the hole. The device automatically finds the eye, detects the iris and pupil, centers the optical system on the center of the pupil, focuses on the iris level, projects the fixation point for the subject, positions the micromanipulator to unify the optical axis of the device with the optical axis of the eye, performs the first frontal image with the visible optical disk and fovea. If necessary, the device tilts the optical system sideways or up and down and is able to cover a large area of the retina. The obtained data are processed in order to extract the bloodstream and find the crossings.
