Original Abstract

The article deals with the issue of dispersion and spreading of pollutants in small municipalities. The main attention is paid to the spreading of pollutants from line sources, i.e. roads in this case. The paper presents part of the research on identification of PM10 dispersion and deposition in small-size urban areas. One major traffic path surrounded by the buildings represents typical configuration of the small-size urban areas. Dispersion of pollutants from the major traffic path in direction perpendicular to the traffic path is very important parameter enabling the prediction of air pollution concentration in the all small-size urban area. Numerical modelling (CFD code StarCD) was used as the computational code for carried out studies. The Eulerian approach of the particle dispersion modelling was engaged. The parametrical study was focused on assessment of the PM10 dispersion from line sources surrounded by the buildings with various configurations. The relation of PM10 concentration and perpendicular distance from the line source was used for evaluation of the PM10 dispersion intensity.
