This work deals with market orientation of companies. Included is the description of some of the „mistakes“, which the representatives of companiess and some Czech authors of economic literature make believing that this is what the market orientation is about. Follows a definition of “market orientation”, explained according to how this term conception is perceived in advanced countries. Following are some aspects by which to judge whether given business entity behaves according to the market needs. In conclusion, there are explained the consequences and benefits of the market orientation in current market conditions.
