Abstract

This active mixer uses ATF–36163 PHEMT transistor. Measured insertion loss between RF and LO port at frequency 6.25 GHz is approximately 32 dB. Measured insertion loss between LO and RF port at 12 GHz is approximately 30 dB. Measured conversion gain is 4.5 dB. Input compression point is IP1dB = -4dB. Output signal is filtered by band stop and low pass filter prior transmission to retrodirective antenna array. Difference between power of the RF and IF signals is only 0.5 dB at the mixer output. RF - IF isolation approximately 20 dB can be achieved using bandstop filter described above. LO signal at 12 GHz from oscillator can be sufficiently suppressed by lowpass filter mentioned above.
