Original Abstract

In manufacturing system the tool management must fill functions as optimization of used types and numbers of tools and their components, connection tools to planed processes, operations and NC programs, assembly tool from components and its adjustment, measuring of assembled tools dimensions, transfer of information about tools dimensions to NC system for correction determination, monitoring of cutting time for tool life estimation and control of tool flow. These all functions need to use of an information system, which will collect and handle all necessary data and information for tool management. This paper describes a proposal and implementation of such information system, which was developed in Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Technical University Brno, Czech Republic in cooperation with Faculty of Applied Information Technology Tomas Bata University in Zlin, Czech Republic and practically used in machine tool manufacturing system.
