Original Abstract

Signalling System No. 7 (SS7) is the signalling standard for inter-office communication between different operators. The article is focused on the possibility of SS7 experimental network using open source softswitch realization. The article analyzes the possibility of SS7 signalling over IP networks using the SIGTRAN protocol transmission. Open source softswitches have allowed only the Service Switching Point (SSP) implementation, but a new implementation of SS7 in the open source YATE offers the possibility of Signal Transfer Point (STP) implementation and thus the possibility of SS7 network realization.
