Original Abstract

A measuring set-up with four EME and four AE sensors was used to study the crack creation in granite samples. A granite sample of size 8×4×1 cm3 was loaded with linearly increasing force with a slope of 200 N/s up to 50 kN. Four AE sensors were attached near sample corners. The EME sensors were established by conducting sheets placed symmetrically on the sample sides, so they made up plate capacitors, whose dielectric was the material under test.
