Abstract

The prototype system has been developed to address the need of RFID tag manufacturers, system integrators and end-users for a tool, which allows measurements of UHF RFID tag communication range in a fast way with high reliability and at low cost. In order to fulfill the requirements on the compactness of the target system, flexibility and configurability at the same time, a commercially available general-purpose modular software-defined radio (SDR) platform has been selected as the core module. The prototype covers a design of modified RFID antennas to meet the requirements for the system performance in a bi-static setup. Based on this prototype, the cooperating partner CISC Semiconductor GmbH has setup the production and brought the product on the market.
