Na základě neustálého rozvoje všech zemí světa se zvyšují nároky lidstva na komfort, zjednodušení práce a tím i na elektrickou energii. Stejně tak rostou i nároky na využití všech dostupných metod jak tuto energii získat snadno, šetrně k životnímu prostředí a levně. Ovšem energie není jediným problémem. V důsledku probíhajících klimatických změn se již v současné době spousta oblastí potýká s nedostatkem pitné vody. Jedná se o oblasti, kde je za celý rok minimum srážek a velká část řečišť je po většinu roku vyschlá. Jednou z takovýchto oblastí jsou ostrovy a souostroví v oblasti Středozemního moře. Nabízí se tedy možnost využít obnovitelné zdroje jak v oblasti energetiky, tak pro získávání pitné vody.

Based on the continuous development of all countries are increasing demands on human comfort, simplification of work and thus the energy. Likewise, increasing the demands on the use of all available methods to easily obtain this energy, environmentally friendly and inexpensive. But energy is not the only problem. As a result of recent climate change is already present in many areas facing shortage of drinking water. These are areas where there is a low rainfall throughout the year and much of the river beds are dry most of the year. One of these areas are islans and archipelagos in the Mediterranean Sea. There is therefore the possibility of using renewable resources as energy, and for obtaining drinking water.
