The presented paper is outlining main problems of foundry industry in "MEGI" countries ("Central Europe Foundry Initiative") and also touching problems confronting the European and American foundry industries. Fields of possible cooperation are mentioned in the end of the paper e.g.: R and D projects, environmental issues, training of specialists, etc.
