Original Abstract

The article points out problems of pre-fabricated panel houses which were abundantly being built in the second half of the 20th century in the Czech Republic. These pre-fabricated panel houses belong to the kind of buildings to which high degree of attention should be paid in these days. The article first outlines the history of the panel building both in the world and in the Czech Republic. The following sections then deal with the types of engineering systems and basic numbers connected to panel buildings in this country. Also the current state of these buildings and revitalisation of panel houses will not be left without a comment. The last chapter deals with the course of my research in which I would like to deal with the problem of panel buildings in more detail.
