Original Abstract

The main aim of this study is the estimation of the influence of point load on creep crack growth in polyethylene pipe. The linear elastic fracture mechanics approach is used and crack shape is estimated. The effect of the size of the particle causes point loading on crack shape and on the stress intensity factor value are numerically investigated. This numerical study can lead to better lifetime prediction of soil embedded pipes.
