Original Abstract

Nowadays, the vehicle licence plate detection and recognition is very useful for example for car park entry, car searching etc. There exist two problems during the licence plate detection and recognition. The first one is the plate area detection, the second one is the reading of all symbols in the selected plate. Especially each country in all over the world have different licence plates so the symbol recognition must be defined for each of these. This paper describes a proposing of a license plate detection method. The whole system has been implemented and tested on a set of cars with various Czech licence plates.
