Abstract

USCT-sim is a fast simulation tool for ultrasound transmission tomography systems. It is written in Matlab and based on following approximations: discretization of the simulated volume, straight propagation, user defined transducer characteristics and approximative scattering effects. The computations of the direct paths and the scatterer paths are decoupled to enable better distribution of workload and to improve the data locality and in both phases the computations are performed in parallel. PBS is used to schedule the computations across available grid resources, however any suitable batch scheduler can be used instead.
