Practical development of electric and hybrid vehicles is speeding up, as car manufacturers struggle with new government regulations to reduce air pollution in urban centers. The development of the Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEV) is being further accelerated. Up to now the automobile industries have developed various types of vehicles towards zero emissions. The course is oriented to basic problems of electric drives in vehicles. The following parts covered in the written textbook: General Principles, Development in Materials (New magnetic materials, low iron loss material), Motor Technology (Induction motors, DC motors etc.), Energy Storage, Future Trends.
