Original Abstract

New methods or modifications of modality-oriented medical image processing are continuously designed and developed. For the special issue of EURASIP JASP, submission of papers describing advances in restoration, reconstruction, segmentation, and visualization of medical image data have been invited. Nine papers concerning the impact of the new data-processing methods to imaging itself, and to the possibilities of clinical applications, have been included, after selection from about twenty submissions.
