Original Abstract
This paper presents a new model for simulations ofvery large scale traffic networks. The proposed model is basedon microscopic cellular automata (CA) extended to eliminateunwanted properties of ordinary CA based models, such asstopping from maximum speed to zero in one time step. Theaccuracy of the model has been validated by comparisons withvarious fundamental diagrams. A parallel implementationdeveloped using the proposed model allows for almost linearspeedup on various multi-core computing platforms.
