Original Abstract
Pre- and post-peak behavior of concrete can be modeled using fracture models that assume some softening curve (relation between crack opening and transferred stresses). Smeared crack approach coupled with finite elements is used in this paper to match experimentally obtained load-deflection curves from three point bending tests. The crack pattern evolution on sample surface was recorded and subsequently compared with an evolution of crack pattern in nonlinear 2D simulation. Short educational video recordings were created for plain concrete and also for fiber reinforced concrete.
