Original Abstract

The rapid growth of mobile communications and the widespread access to information via Internet have resulted in a strong demand for robust transmission of compressed video data for various multimedia applications and services. Transmission of videos to mobile applications implies several common problems. An ideal case would be a great bandwidth of wireless channel, low or zero error bit-rate and low cost of kilobyte necessary to transmit the videos. But in real time it is a trade-off between these factors. When we have to transmit real time video the transmission time is not the most significant parameter. The bandwidth is not infinite of course. Always it is compromise between quality video and bit-rate of a channel. Here are the questions: What type of compression of picture or video to use to transmit? What type of error resilient tools to use? What type of transmit channel or channels to use? This report is focused to answer these questions. The main effort is dedicated to minimize the number of errors in the transmission of data. The Kakadu software was used to make of all simulations. The simulations have been done in MATLAB.
