Original Abstract

The structure of Ni-Al interface was studied in two types of specimens. The Ni coating was plasma sprayed on commercial grade Al and Al polycrystals of 5N purity. The specimens were annealed interface was studied in relation to annealing time at respective temperature. Optical metallography, image analysis, hardness measurement, electrron microscopy and EDS microanalysis were applied. The specimen preparation is described in detail. The results namely diffusion path, size and distribution of intermetallic particles, concentration profiles, width of the intermediate layer are presented.
