Original Abstract

Cavitation predition is an important part of hydraulic machine design. Cavitation does not only appear on blades but also in diffuser, where cavitating vortex rope causes performance characteristic drop and dynamic problems. Simulations of cavitation bubble behavior using Rayleigh-Plesset equation were performed. A modification of turbulent viscosity production was incorporated to current CFD tool and an extended model was proposed combining existing methods and knowledge about bubble dynamics gained through study of Rayleigh-Plesset equation.
