Original Abstract

This paper describes the modification of an open source JPEG 2000 compression library developed for MS Windows XP for using PCI card with a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) as an accelerator. The main principles of JPEG 2000 compression as well as new features in comparison with old JPEG and advantages and disadvantages of used solution are discussed. Main problems which had to be solved like PCI communication and optimization are described. PCI card based on a digital signal processor TMS320C6415 was used as an accelerator for tests.
